This is the first completed drawing in a series of the
National Parks that I have been to. I have already done a drawing of Mount
Rainier National Park in my Cascade volcanoes series, so the series includes
all the other national parks I have visited. I have started with Zion National
Park. I will follow with Bryce Canyon National Park, Redwood, Yellowstone, and
finally Olympic. I am excited about these drawings. They will all be from
family photographs with the exception of Yellowstone. This drawing of Zion
National Park is from a photograph taken by my brother on a family trip in 2013.
I really like how the contrast between the sky and the cliff turned out. I am
used to drawing using mostly greens and blues because most of my drawings are
from the Pacific Northwest. These desert colors gave me a new challenge. I did
a lot of layering to get the correct colors. I am pleased with how it turned
out.
