This is the first completed drawing in a series of the National Parks that I have been to. I have already done a drawing of Mount Rainier National Park in my Cascade volcanoes series, so the series includes all the other national parks I have visited. I have started with Zion National Park. I will follow with Bryce Canyon National Park, Redwood, Yellowstone, and finally Olympic. I am excited about these drawings. They will all be from family photographs with the exception of Yellowstone. This drawing of Zion National Park is from a photograph taken by my brother on a family trip in 2013. I really like how the contrast between the sky and the cliff turned out. I am used to drawing using mostly greens and blues because most of my drawings are from the Pacific Northwest. These desert colors gave me a new challenge. I did a lot of layering to get the correct colors. I am pleased with how it turned out.

This is the final installment of my Cascade volcanoes project. It was a really fun project to draw the four main Cascade volcanoes. I worked really hard on this project and because I was so diligent in working on it I was able to finish it in three months instead of the six months that it usually takes me. I think it turned out great.

This is the third installment in my Cascade volcanoes project. I was worried about how all the dark shallows would turn out, but it ended up working out great. After I finish my Mount Baker picture, which is next, I plan to get a frame with four openings and group all the Cascade volcano drawings together. I am really happy with this drawing.

This is my most recent project. It is part of my Cascade volcanoes project. So far I have drawn Mount Saint Helens and Mount Adams. Next, I will draw Mount Rainier. I will finish with Mount Baker. I am really pleased with how this drawing turned out. I free handed this drawing from a photograph taken by my brother Shawn in 2007.

Olympic Mountains

This project came from a drawing class I took my Sophomore year of high school. The middle section was based off a postcard of the Olympic mountains in Washington. We then had to make a border by repeating an element of the middle section in a different medium. The next border repeats a different element in another medium. The middle is in oil pastel, the first border is prismacolor colored pencil, and the second border is chalk pastel.

For this project we had to make a social commentary piece. I thought of the subject of religion. I also thought of people who have given their lives for a cause. Perhaps because I like history and I am a Christian I thought of the Christian martyrs from ancient Roman times. I decided to draw the Coliseum. I looked at a picture I got from the Internet to draw the Coliseum and the rest I free handed.
